I was born in the 70’s and there is something about the 70’s style that I simply love. Looking back over pictures of my mother, I’m in awe of her style. Her big afro, wide leg pants and crop top, I think she was and still is the most beautiful woman. I was happy when the 70’s trend came back for fall although, I don’t think it ever really goes away. I can recreate my mother’s style with my own spin on it bringing the look up to date.
The 70’s trend of wide leg pants and tops is such an amazing look for curvy women. The wide leg pants are fitted at the hip and flare at the lower leg, which gives shape around the hip area and the flare draws the eye. This look goes well with fitted tops, crop top or tucked in blouses, and will play up the shape of a curvaceous women.
In this look, adding a bow blouse, floppy hat and big glasses, puts you right back into the 70’s. Trends may come and go, but the 70’s will never die because the style can be integrated into more recent styles by adding elements of current trends. This particular look, feels like the 70’s but also has a feel and look of today.
As curvy women, we can represent the all the trends with style and grace. I know that I personally have not tried certain trends because of my size, but I realized it not the trend itself, but it’s how we portray the trend to fit our body type and body style. Any and all trends are available to curvy ladies, we just have to represent them in our own authentic way.
