I remember being little girl, an only child, playing in my room. An idea hit me and I wanted my Barbie to have a fancy house, so I ran to mom’s room and asked if I can have some of her shoe boxes? I ran back to my room with a stack of shoe boxes, drop them on the floor, opened the drawer, grabbed a pair of scissors, a box of markers and a box a of crayons. As I sat on the floor with Barbie to my left and supplies to my right, it was time to build Barbie a house.
I had to be around 8 years old, and I had so much fun making a bed, dresser, sofa, stove, washer and dryer, all out of the shoe boxes my mom gave to me. Babrbie’s house was massive because I used the floor of my closet. It never even dawned on me to ask my mom to buy me a Barbie house, there was something about making and creating a home for Barbie with my own hands that just seemed…right.
Now, I sit here writing this and hoping that someone out there is listening. I’ve held back on being creative because I was taught to find a good job with benefits and stay there. Yes, you love your job but you still have this yearning to do more, so you start painting, writing, taking photos or creating videos but after a long day at work sometimes the last thing you want to do is be creative or to put the energy into building your own company, but I’m here to encourage to keep pushing. I struggle everyday, but I won’t give up or give in.
It’s currently, Monday evening and as I write this, I have a video about how I’m taking the “Do The Work” Challenge. It’s a video of encouragement for myself to be dedicate for 1 year to build my dreams, by doing the work. Whether it’s staying up late, getting up early or learning new skills, you do what needs to be done for 1 year. Personally, I’m doing this because I feel that I need to do something different. I’ve been doing the same thing for a while now and I’m not getting the results I would like to see. And I know it’s because I haven’t put in the work. For one year, I’m dedicated to driving and pushing myself everyday and I’m challenging you to join me.
We are building a community of like-minded people, so if you want to join in the challenge, I’ll link it below and you can use the #TCGLdoWork @CurvyGirlsLife, so we can showcase, retweet and repost your pictures. Let’s encourage each other to follow our creative and business minds and to build a life of abundance.
Your creativity never leaves, sometimes it waits patiently for you to find your way back. Go find your creativity.
