I love reading books that help me to grow. Whether it’s fiction, business, self-help, etc… As long as I’m getting something out of the book. I do love to read just for pleasure, but prefer to get a lesson from my reading materials.
Recently I picked up T.D. Jakes “Instinct: The Power to Unleash Your Inborn Drive” and I love it. I’m a fan of T.D. Jakes and have a few of his other books. They all speak to me in different ways but this one really spoke loudly to my soul. It opened my mind to be more aware of of the instinctual drive that we all have but rarely use. T.D. Jakes points out that we all of a drive to survive but this same drive also allows us to thrive, if we allow it.
If you are thinking that it’s too late in life, this book is perfect for you. He touches base on how, we can change our mind set at anytime to achieve our God given dreams. It opens you up to your destiny and purpose by showing you how to use that instinct. His backdrop of the book is his trip to Africa and a safari that he took. Along the journey, T.D. Jakes had some epiphanies that helped to shaped his view on life and brought about this book.
It’s been such an interesting read and a book that I highly recommend. Yes, T.D. Jakes is a pastor, but this book is for everyone. If you are not religious but just need guidance on following your instincts, then this would be a perfect book for you. If you are religious, then you will also benefit highly from the words and examples used throughout the book.
I share this book with you because I enjoy reading and as a lifestyle blog, I want to keep every aspect of my life an open book, no pun intended. If you are currently in an area of your life where you are looking for change, not sure which direction to go, or in a transition phase, this would be a good guide to help you take the steps forward.
What’s currently on your nightstand that you’re reading? Have you read “Instinct”? What did you think ?
