Happy Birthday “This Curvy Girls Life”! Wow, I can’t believe it’s been a year since “This Curvy Girls Life” began it’s journey. As I look over the year, tears are brought to my eyes because I’ve experienced some great moments, but I’ve also made it through some deep valleys. Though it all, I can say that I never lost my faith and that is what has kept during this year.
When I first starting blogging under “This Curvy Girls Life”, I was going through a separation from my husband and a year later, I’m still in that valley. It’s been one of the most difficult things to work through because I’ve loved this man for so many years, over 15 plus the time we were to together in high school. I didn’t know if I was going to make it at times but I always prayed to God to continue to give me strength everyday. It hasn’t been easy but God had mercy and grace on my life, and I stand today not fully healed but grateful nonetheless for the journey because it has taught to put God first no matter what the situation is. It’s taught me to love me as I am, whether I’m overweight, dark skin, nappy hair, none of the matters because in His eyes, I’m beautiful and when I look in the mirror I see a reflection of God.
My life lessons have been many and I will continue to have them because I can be stubborn, but I’m so happy that my life lessons are mine because each one of them will help me to fulfill my purpose in this life and to walk this journey with confidence. So, yes it saddens me that people can walk away from relationships and not fight for the love that they committed too, but it has never made me lose my heart. I still love what love stands for and how love can conquer anything.
“This Curvy Girls Life” has also given me joy. In this year, I’ve teamed up with ladies across the U.S. in my Fitness Challenge and it was remarkable to see these women going hard to meet their goals of living a healthy lifestyle. I had so many text messages and emails saying that I was inspiring them, but I don’t think they realized that it was I that was being inspired. On the days that I felt like giving up, I would see posts and tweets showing these ladies reaching their goals and those moments kept me pushing forward. So I say thank you to everyone that joined us, You were the inspiration!
The blessings continued as I was asked to host many events in the Los Angeles area, the Tru’Mane grand opening, Nappywood Styling Stage for the Nappywyood Hair Expo and MAC cosmetics Girls Night Out. The love that was shown by the turn out for these events was so overwhelming. At each event, I had the opportunity to meet you guys, take pictures and create these amazing incredible moments that I will never forget. I even hosted a few events of my own that were wonderful and beyond the dreams that I had for them.
As I look forward to the next year, I’ve planned many numerous events that will allow “This Curvy Girls Life” to branch out and spread our wings. From Empowerment Brunches to Food Truck Charity events, 2016 will be filled with exciting moments and fun ways to give back to the community.
I’ve never been this enthusiastic for the future, perhaps it’s because I’m no longer trying to take charge of it, but allowing God to use me in a way that brings Him all the glory. To truly live a life without regrets and to fail as many times as possible. My life and the “This Curvy Girls Life” has only just begun.
Thank you for taking this journey with us and we look forward to bringing you another amazing year! And to show our gratitude, we are hosting a GIVEAWAY!!! Follow us on Instagram and Twitter (@CurvyGirlsLife), as we will make the announcement tomorrow 12/12/15 of all the details!
