When you’re young, you tend to live a more carefree life not thinking about the future as much as we do as we start to age. When I was in my twenties, I didn’t think I would be divorced with two dogs, basically starting over and trying to start a new business at the age of 42.
As I’ve gotten older , living in the moment seems harder to do but it’s the quest I find myself trying to get to everyday. When I do find myself in “the moment” and living, I’m at peace with life. I don’t feel like I’m chasing something or comparing myself to others. I’m just there, living in the moment.
Living in the moment means that I’m taking advantage of the here and now. I’m starting that business, traveling to places I’ve never been or cuddling with the one I love. I’m not waiting or playing the “what if” game. Sometimes not living in the moment will leave you on the sidelines of life, just watching. And you already know how it feels to watch. But have you ever thought about how it would feel if you were in the game and won? Imagine that feeling, That’s what living in the moment feels like.
Why are you afraid to live in the moment? Or is it the leap that you must take? Yes, a leap. Do you think Michael Jordan was nervous before his first NBA game? Of course he was, but because he lived in the moment, he was able to accomplish so much. In order to have those true living in the moment, moments, you must use any doubt, fear or nervousness and turn it into fuel, take a step, and just absorb the moment.
I’m currently in the taking the leap phase, which has me smack dab in the middle of living in the moment. Is it scary, hell yes but is it the best feeling ever. Yes, and for me I know that its even bigger than this because its just the beginning. When you have the courage to step into your greatness, you are Living in the Moment.
You have everything you need already within you, so take the step and live in the moment!
How will you live in the moment this week? Drop it in the comments!
