Growing up, I didn’t wear much makeup and actually didn’t start wearing makeup well into my twenties. However, in jr. high through college, there was one staple that I never left the house without and that was mascara. Now, as I’ve gotten older, I must touch up these brows, put on a gloss or lipsticks and mascara is still a must. We are giving you our top 7 mascara’s you should try.
Throughout the years, I’ve tried lots of different brands that all claimed to give volume, length and now the butterfly effect. Some brands did exactly what they claimed but there were plenty that did the complete opposite…absolutely nothing.
Personally, I love mascaras that give me length over volume, although I would like to achieve both but if I had to choose, I would go for length because I have very short lashes.
For years, I would do multiple coats of one mascara and then I started watching Youtube…And I saw Jackie Ania layer two different mascaras to achieve her desired look. I literally could have kicked myself because I never thought of that. Maybe it was watching my mom, who to this day uses only one mascara, so it never dawned on me to layer for length and volume.
These days, I’m a layering fanatic. I love combining different mascaras to see the results and through that process, I’ve come across 7 mascaras that I can not live without. These are my all-time favorites and will be repurchased until I find something better. Yes, I have others but these are the ones that stay within reach for my everyday look.
These are listed in no particular order, but I did list the my favorite bottom lash mascara last.
Maybelline – Great Lash – You may already know about this mascara because it’s a staple in the makeup community. This mascara has been my mom’s go-to since I was a kid. The one thing I can always say about my mom is that she keeps Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in her makeup bag. Great Lash thickens and conditions, without clumping which is why it’s one of my favorites. The brush definitely coats each lash and multiple layers of the mascara will give you a look of a full voluminous lashes.
Dior – Diorshow – Diorshow is the mascara that I found through YouTube and I fell in love in my first use. The brush is so big, so if large brushes is not your thing, then this you may not like this mascara but the formula is amazing. The formula is enriched with microfibers which gives you the look of lash extensions. Also, the tube has a patented AIR-LOCK wiper system that prevents the formula from being in contact with air, so it doesn’t dry out. I love to use this mascara and layer it with my other favorites.
Tarte Lights Camera Flashes – Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Flashes is the ultimate in taking your lashes to the next level! It lengthens, curls and magnifies. I love the dual-sided brush which helps to instantly give you volume. The packaging is super cute, but the formula is great for adding volume.
L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara – I love the wide-eyed spiky look and Miss Manga is one of those mascaras that I will keep in my staples. The brush is coned-shaped and has a 360 degree flexor that builds up the mascara on your lash. The brush makes all the difference in this mascara. The formula doesn’t stand out on it own but I love paring this my Great Lash or other mascaras and it gives not only the spiky look but you will also have more volume and length when paring.
Benefit Cosmetics – They’re Real – Okay, words cannot express my love for They’re Real. I received a sample from Ulta and I was hooked. I literally went out and purchased a full size immediately. After applying this mascara, I saw dramatic results. My lashes had length and volume. The tip of this brush allows you to get bottom lashes and also covers each lash with mascara. This is the mascara that I have my friends and family hooked on. Definitely one that I will always keep in my makeup bag.
Benefits Cosmetics – Roller Lash – Benefits is on a roll with their amazing mascaras. The formula and the brush is amazing. Benefits states that the mascara contains provitamin B5 and serene, which are ingredients known for there lash-conditioning. As you apply the mascara, you can see your lashes curling and holds for up to 12 hours. It’s another mascara that I’ve raved about and my friends and family are loving it too!
Loreal Telescopic in Carbon Black – Last but certainly not least is the Loreal Telescopic mascara. Now, let me start by saying that I don’t use this mascara for my top lashes, it’s my go-to bottom lash mascara. You can use it for both and I have tried it when I’m wearing false lashes to blend the two together which worked well. However, this is so perfect for bottom lashes. The brush is slim and easy to use. The mascara coats the lashes well and it dries quickly which is a huge plus for me since I tend to get teary eyed when applying mascara. It lengthens and gives volume to my lashes and the waterproof formula stays put. I love it!
What is your go-to mascara? Is your favorite missing from the list?
