I’m a Rule Breaker of fashion. They say don’t wear white, so I decided to wear it from head to toe. They say you must always wear shape wear, but sometimes it’s the freedom of not feeling constricted that allows the real you to show up.
When I first fell in love in with fashion, one of the main rules was to not wear white after Labor Day and for plus size women it was just to not wear white at all. It shows are the imperfections and doesn’t lend itself to making you look smaller. Why? Why should I not wear white when I want too? What’s stopping me from loving every part of my body and not being ashamed to show every roll and bump. I will not allow fashion rules to keep from exploring and having fun with fashion.
Shape wear has become a part of the everyday outfit of the plus size women, but why? Are we trying to look smaller from someone else? For ourselves? Is wearing shape wear everyday causing us to dislike our bodies as they are? Breaking the rules of not wearing shape wear everyday allows me to see me. To see the imperfections and love every inch of this body. In order for my personal style to flourish, I have to love my body. Accept the parts that I’ve grown up disliking and use that as motivation to blossom my personal style.
I implore you to be a rule breaker. Break every fashion rule and allow your personal style emerge. Fashion is sold in stores, but style is personal.
