Standing in front of these road construction signs was not the plan, but my friend Sherrie thought it would be a good idea, so I gave it a try. It wasn’t until I got home, downloaded the pictures from my camera and looked at them to notice that the signs actually speak to where I am in life.
Steel Plates Ahead represents the heavy road blocks that lay before you, but the steel lays flat and allows us to give over them. It may be a bumpy ride but those steel plates are covering the valleys in which God is protecting us from. Have you ever dealt with difficulty in your life to look back and see that it wasn’t so bad. That’s the steel plates of life, it’s a bumpy ride but it keeps you above the difficulty until you get to a smooth road ahead.
Road Work Ahead represents the work we all have to do. The journey of finding your purpose. We have work to do in many areas of our life and as you do the work, live your life. There will always be Road Work Ahead, but it’s going through the journey, finding your purpose and living in your truth that makes the bumpy road and work ahead so worth it.
It’s funny when I think of Road Work Ahead in terms of my style. When I first started blogging, I wanted to be popular, to have mega numbers and work with big brands, so I forged ahead on what I thought was my road, but it wasn’t. Instead of walking my journey, I tried to be like everyone else in hopes that it would get people to notice me. It wasn’t until I opened my eyes to what God had for me and it wasn’t trying to be like anyone else but just being. My style is me just being. When I settled into my comfort space of just being, it allowed me to be open, honest and vulnerable about my lack of self-confidence growing up, my recent separation and so much more. Now, I use this platform to encourage and inspire women to be their true authentic selves without fear of what people think.
Enjoy the Road Work Ahead because it will be a journey of epic proportions that you will love, hate, cry and laugh, but in the end you will look back with awe of what God has done and how He pushed you to use your talents and skills to become the woman that He made you to be, so enjoy the Road Work Ahead!
